DeNova is seeking a highly motivatedLab Technicianto join our Research & Development team. In this hands-on role, youll support laboratory operations and contribute to the commercialization of a novel, sustainable microbial protein ingredient derived from the fermentation of natural bacteria. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting science-driven innovation in a collaborative environment.

The Lab Technician position is based on-site at DeNovas R&D headquarters in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare media, stock solutions, agar plates, and other experimental inputs
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab workstations and shared spaces
• Operate lab equipment, including centrifuge and autoclaves
• Wash and sterilize glassware and equipment
• Assist in executing R&D experiments, including sample prep and basic data collection
• Monitor lab consumables and assist with ordering and inventory management
• Support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process improvements
• Help with shipping and receiving, including preparing and unpacking shipments

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Technical Diploma with a focus on lab operations in a chemistry or microbiology setting
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory environment
• Experience in life sciences or microbiology preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis
