We are seeking a dynamic Estimator to join our client in Commercial Construction in Edmonton.
What we Offer:
  • Salary: $100,000 to $120,000
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Benefits: 100% employer paid medical and dental plus a health spending account.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop accurate and comprehensive estimates, including job scope, materials, labor, and equipment costs, to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
  • Review and interpret building specifications, blueprints, and as-builts to ensure precise estimation and compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare estimates for design-build, lump sum, and construction management projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry standards.
  • Identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and resource allocations to enhance project profitability and competitiveness.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and ensure estimates reflect real-world construction conditions.
  • Leverage cost-estimating tools and software to generate precise, data-driven bids and maintain consistency in the estimation process.
  • Lead the bid preparation, review, and submission process, ensuring estimates meet deadlines and align with company profit margins.

What We're Looking For:
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in construction, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in commercial construction estimating, with expertise in design-build, lump sum, and construction management projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints, and as-builts to develop precise cost estimates. AutoCAD experience is an asset.
  • Strong ability to analyze project requirements, break down costs, and conduct risk assessments to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Experience using AUTOCAD, cost-estimating software, spreadsheets, and project management tools to generate precise estimates and maintain data integrity.
  • Ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather pricing, assess risks, and ensure alignment on project scope.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present estimates, justify cost decisions, and negotiate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.
  • A meticulous approach to cost estimation, identifying potential discrepancies, value engineering opportunities, and innovative solutions to improve cost efficiency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, adjusting strategies based on changing project requirements and market conditions.
