Class 1 & 3 Truck Driver

Employment Type:Full-time or Part-time, Permanent, Union

Reporting to:Operations Manager/Dispatch

Wage Rate:$30.24 to 34.73plus 11.5% vacation pay

Hours of Work:Up to 40 hours per week. Weekend Availability Required Periodically

Work Setting:Institutional, Commercial, Civil, Industrial, Residential

Chew Excavating, a member of the Ralmax Group of Companies, has an exciting and immediate opening for a full-time or part-time Truck Driver in Victoria, BC to deliver to industrial, commercial, and residential construction job sites. Ability to pull a Pup or Quad trailer or operating a Slinger or Crane Truck will be considered an asset. Responsibilities:

Drive a truck equipped with or without a trailer to job site locations.

Communicates with Dispatch using a radio, telephones, and email.

Fill out/complete daily inspection forms and timecards in an orderly fashion.

Play a positive role in influencing workplace morale and quality customer service.

Safely operate the truck and its auxiliary equipment such as levers, chutes, and mixing drums.

Must take responsibility for their equipment and keep it in a clean & orderly fashion.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

3+ years of related driving experience

Class 1 Driver's License, or Class 3 with Air Endorsement

Geographical knowledge of the Greater Victoria area is a benefit

Experience pulling trailers preferred

Experience operating a slinger truck is an asset

Certification for operating mobile cranes 10 tons and under is an asset

Knowledge and Skills

Clear communication skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

Must have excellent customer service skills

Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

Work Conditions:

The driver must be able to safely maneuver the truck in congested areas with often uneven ground conditions.

Must be open to work occasional weekend shifts.
