We are currently seeking to add an Apprentice HeavyDuty Mechanic to join our team based out of Leduc, AB

TheApprentice HeavyDutyMechanicperforms tasks in themechanical servicing, repair, and maintenance of KBLs fleet ofheavyequipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Services on equipment:

• Inspecting and diagnosing problems with heavy equipment
• Complete necessary repairs and required maintenance as per the scheduled servicing
• Conducting preventative maintenance to ensure the safe operation of equipment
• Accurate and timely completion of work orders, including time and parts per repair
• Collaborating with othermechanics and technicians to solve complex problems
• Have experience with on highway units on operations and maintenance
• Have computer skills to utilize equipment management programs and for completing equipment repair and maintenance logs
• Drive company service truck into difficult to access locations
• Plan and prep for remote repairs

Hot work:

• Welding non-structural and non-frame components on equipment
• Grinding and cutting with grinder
• Oxy acetylene torch use
• General metal working

Keeping the service truck and equipment clean:

• Keep tools clean and stored when not in use
• Ensure parts are where they should be
• Assist Service Manager with parts and inventory management

Health and Safety:

• Adhere to Health and Safety Management System, be familiar with and follow all applicable safe work practices, safe operating procedures, and safety specifications detailed in equipment manuals and manufacturers specifications
• Ensure that those persons assisting in the shop are also following applicable safe work standards
• Communicate any unsafe conditions or incidents and near misses to the Supervisor in a timely manner

Qualifications:

• Experience working on Kenworth, Western Star with Side and End Dump Trailers
• Possession of valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Self-motivator willing to work overtime and weekends

Physical Requirements:

This position requires standing for extended periods, in addition to walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling with occasional sitting. Must be capable ofheavy lifting and moving parts up to 75 lbs. on a consistent basis.

Working Environment:

Thisjob will require weekends and some overtime hours. Some work is completed in our facilities in Leduc and Edmonton however travel will be required to complete roadside repairs in all weather conditions. The noise level in the environment can be excessive and shop staff can be exposed to high temperatures, fumes, and toxic chemicals. Travel to NWT/Yukon will be required from time to time
