Role & Responsibilities

Are you ready to take your technical expertise on the road? This position requires extensive domestic and international travel and can involve working internationally for extended periods of time in diverse industrial environments.

Were looking for a skilled and experienced Field Advisor to join our team, supporting the fabrication, installation, commissioning and maintenance of equipment in the bulk material handling industry.

In this dynamic role, youll leverage your technical engineering expertise and ability to interpret mechanical, structural, and electrical drawings to conduct detailed onsite inspections, ensuring equipment meets all specified requirements.

Ideal candidates will have strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Were open to candidates based in British Columbia or Ontario who are ready to take their expertise into the field.

Here are some of the things youll be working on:

  • Collaborate with contractors/fabricators on the fabrication, erection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of new and used equipment.
  • Interpret mechanical, structural, and electrical drawings accurately.
  • Understand and apply basic welding principles and procedures.
  • Provide technical input and review to suppliers and contractors as directed by the project engineer or project manager.
  • Conduct inspections and write detailed technical reports on component conditions and activities.
  • Assist in technical problem-solving during installation, commissioning, and operational phases.
  • Interact effectively with customers, suppliers, and team members.
  • Mentor less experienced personnel to foster knowledge sharing and team growth.
  • Visit suppliers, engineering offices, and industrial facilities independently.
  • Participate in off-site installation and commissioning activities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols during travel and on-site operations.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology, Trades experience or equivalent industry qualifications.
  • Minimum five years of experience in technical roles, preferably in the bulk material handling or heavy equipment manufacturing industry.
  • Proven ability to work with contractors, fabricators, and suppliers on technical projects.
  • Proficient in interpreting mechanical and structural drawings- ability to interpret electrical drawings is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of basic welding principles and practices.
  • Strong technical report writing skills for inspections and evaluations.
  • Experience working with Excel and Word; familiarity with drafting software such as AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the proven ability to document technical information clearly.
