Primary Purpose
The Production Engineer provides technical support to drive reliable stock preparation, effluent treatment plant (ETP) and receiving (yard) activities and associated operations. The position serves as a key resource involved in the optimization of production, including reject systems and pulp refiners. As a key contributor to continuous improvement efforts, the Production Engineer participates in various projects in connection with stock preparation efficiency improvements, such as water use reduction, pulp quality, and mixed waste furnish for liner production.
Key Accountabilities
- Identify and address production issues as they relate to stock preparation equipment malfunction and other challenges that arise during the manufacturing process
- Investigate stock preparation production losses and breakdowns and provide support to maintain effluent treatment plant operation
- Routinely monitor key performance indicators for stock preparation to ensure that quality and efficiency standards are being met
- Generate and interpret production reports that provide data for informed decision making in connection with stock preparation activities, and to address system issues
- Perform routine checks to ensure stock preparation operations are in compliance with operational standards
- Provide technical support for the development of standards and systems that optimize stock preparation reliability
- Oversee production testing requirements for stock preparation, and provide operator guidance and training for all testing requirements
- Collaborate with Mill production and maintenance teams to facilitate interdepartmental cooperation to achieve system improvements
- Ensure activities within are of responsibility are in compliance with Company health and safety, and environmental requirements.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or degree in a technical field of study, preferably mechanical or chemical engineering
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in a technical role
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
