Job Summary
The Young Adults Pastor will provide leadership and cultivate spiritual growth for Peace Portals young adults. You will be responsible to assure that young adult ministries participate in Peace Portals mission, vision, and values and aligns with the ministry of the wider church. Your role will center on the discipling and formation of our young adults in Christ by developing creative ways for young adults to grow in healthy relationship with God, one another, and the broader church. You will help them navigate the unique aspects of young adult life (i.e. vocation, identity, doubt, sexuality, dating, marriage, singleness, etc.). You will also develop a leadership team whom you will equip, encourage, and release in ministry. While the role of Young Adults Pastor is being hired for between 24-26hrs/week, secondary roles and areas of oversight may be available for the right candidate for up to an additional 14-16hrs/week depending on gifts, training, experience.

Responsibilities
- Be in intentional relationship with Peace Portals young adults by reaching out to them and galvanizing into a community of faith.
- Provide vision, leadership, and direction to the young adults.
- Equip, direct, and empower volunteers for various ministry related roles and involvement.
- Give spiritual direction and counsel to individuals when needed.
- Develop and/or facilitate the format and content for teaching and spiritual formation of young adults.
- Provide leadership and care for young adult small groups.
- Develop a strategy to build connection between youth and young adults to help foster relationships that invite and support youth as they enter into young adulthood.
- Help youth students transfer well into the life of young adults by attending multiple youth services and events and by inviting grade 12 students to attend young adult services and events.
- Help young adults integrate well into the life of Peace Portal.
- Remain connected with students who move away for studies and return for summers (i.e. help them connect to local churches/campus ministries; plan virtual calls to connect and pray with students on specific campuses).
Skills & Experience
- Previous leadership experience in a local church or other ministry context.
- Experience developing and empowering the growth and gifts of others.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Effective with social media and other commonly used young adult communication platforms.
- Must be eligible to receive Official Workers credentials and/or be ordained or pursuing ordination with the Alliance Canada.
- Completed formal education in theology or ministry or pursuing Christian higher education.
- Successful criminal record background check, and vulnerable sector check and reference.
