Position overview

Build your career as a Construction Professional in this varied and challenging role that is critical to project success. Thesuccessful candidate will assume responsibility for providing onsite quality management, project management tasks, and will act as a liaison between our project site and the head office staff.The role will include training and mentoring to support your professional development and career growth.

Task and Responsibilities:

Assist in developing project budgets, schedules, and execution plans, after being awarded the project.

Maintain and promote high safety standards in all aspects of the project. Assist in ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.

Lead and manage the development and implementation of the quality management strategy for major projects.

Maintain a thorough understanding of the contract documents including drawings and specifications. Identify discrepancies or missing information and manage these through the RFI process as required.

Implement procurement policies for subcontracted work, materials/equipment supply, and professional consulting services (including 3rd party testing agencies). Manage performance and ensure compliance with agreements entered into.

Maintain relationships and communication tools as needed with suppliers and other key project personnel to verify that materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and personnel are obtained and / or delivered when required

Monitor and assist in controlling progress, costs, quality, and safety throughout the project, and comply with all project reporting procedures. Monitor and regularly report variances in accordance with project controls procedures.

Assist with identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize impacts to projects.

Investigate and resolve quality issues and deviations. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement corrective and preventive actions

Establish, implement, and monitor project filing systems and document control.

Carry out quality control inspections as required and/or manage inspections by other staff.

Implement effective information management and communication, including ensuring that any changes are relayed to superintendents, field crews and subcontractors.

Assist in implementing change management procedures, ensuring clear and concise documentation for all changes to scope and delays that impact the work. Assist with preparing and estimating change orders.

Prepare field reports, including daily site reports and photographic logs.

Assist with developing crew and equipment requirements for projects and communicate these with the relevant team members to ensure the project has the required resources.

Provide regular reports on project status to senior management.

Ensure that field staff understand the companys operating policies and practices, and apply these appropriately.

Contribute to a strong team environment through assisting teammates in accomplishing mutual goals, supporting and promoting team spirit and cooperation.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelors degree or diploma in engineering, construction management or related field

P.Eng, CET or AScT (or eligible to be registered),

5+ years of experience in the construction industry and in quality management on construction projects,

Applicants must hold a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and be legally permitted to work in Canada.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

The following skills are desirable:

Knowledge of quality control / quality assurance programs

Planning and Execution Management

Problem solving skills

Strong ability to analyze contract requirements and applicable specifications, codes, standards and regulations, and communicate these requirements to the project team. (Experience with BC MOTI specifications would be an asset)

Thorough knowledge and understanding of equipment, inspection and test methods/methodology typically used in civil construction projects

Experience in managing 3rd Party testing companies, including budget planning, scheduling, and interpreting test results

An eye for efficiency and proven ability to revise or develop new processes or procedures

The ability to multitask with strong time management and prioritization skills

Outstanding attention to detail

Sets high standards for health and safety

Good computer skills are essential

Location of Employment:

This position is for a project located in North Vancouver with an expected duration of 12 months. Future projects may involve work at project sites across Western Canada or from the head office in North Vancouver.
