Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer, based out of Saskatoon, SK, to join our project team executing a Potash mining project Saskatchewan. As a Mechanical Engineer working in an Integrated Program Management Team (IPMT) within the Owner's team, you will ensure that engineering deliverables are developed, aligned, and executed per the project specifications. While the preference is for this position to be based in the project office in Saskatoon, we can accommodate this position to be based in other project and Bantrel offices located in Bethune (SK), Calgary (AB), Edmonton (AB), and Toronto (ON).

In this full-time permanent role, you will be supporting the Project Mechanical Lead.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Review and prepare mechanical engineering deliverables such as data sheets, specifications, material requisitions, etc.
  • Coordinate assigned work with other technical personnel across other engineering disciplines as required
  • Prepare letters / correspondence with vendors and contractors
  • Review design documents from equipment manufacturers or subcontractors, and prepare comments and recommendations accordingly
  • Participate in Engineering design reviews of mechanical systems
  • Understand roles played by other disciplines on the project
  • Participate in reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data by other engineers / specialists or by suppliers
  • Familiar with engineering department procedures and their application to projects
  • Knowledge of design standards and guides applicable to the discipline
  • Participate in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical or Materials Engineering Degree and registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • 10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience in Mining / Potash Projects is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in rotating equipment or in an operating plant is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of industry / regulatory codes and standards such as ASME, ASTM, API, etc.
  • Experience with software programs such as AVEVA and Navisworks 3D is considered an asset
  • Willing and able to occasionally travel to operating plants or manufacturer's shops for field reviews, acceptance testing, etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
