We are proud to partner with Indigenous communities and offer an opportunity for qualified Indigenous candidates to join our mill. You will work safely, while training and operating a variety of equipment, and cross-training in multiple areas. This is an entry level position with a weekday schedule, an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a mill environment.
You'll Do:
- Learn the Oriented Strand Board (OSB) manufacturing process
- Work in a variety of areas including but not limited to the Finishing End, Logyard, and Woodroom
- Perform preventative maintenance on safety devices including eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, and AEDs risers
- Perform spark watch activities (monitoring welding and other hot work, to ensure a fire does not occur)
- Perform confined space watch to ensure the safety of those working in confined spaces
- Complete general mill housekeeping, including sweeping, and removing debris from work area
- Use compressed air or water hoses to aid in cleaning equipment and wood dust mitigation
- Assist other team members and departments as required, to ensure smooth operations
- Strict adherence to company safety standards
Would be considered an asset:
- Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work in a physically demanding, hot and noisy environment by climbing stairs, lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Proven track record of being reliable / dependable with limited absenteeism or tardiness
Skills:
- Basic computer skills, with an ability to develop computer skills relevant to specific jobs
- Effective communication skills, with a genuinely positive attitude and optimistic outlook
