ABOUT WILLIAMS LAKE FIRST NATION (WLFN)
The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), or the Texelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today, the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane, in nearby Williams Lake, BC, and across the globe.

POSITION
Reporting to the Manager, Social Development.
Employment Type
Permanent, Full-Time (35 Hours per week).
Probation Period
3 months from the date of hire.
Education Required
- Graduation from High School Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Preference will be given to Diploma/Certificate level education.
Experience Required
- Direct experience in administration and direct client support.
- Experience working with Indigenous families and Communities.
- Experience providing family support, youth support, etc.
- Experience in Sage 300 or other related finance software.
Overtime Status
Non-exempt.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide empowering one-on-one support to members including job search support, crisis support, advocacy.
- Administer Income Assistance Program to On-Reserve eligible members in accordance with Indigenous Service Canada (ISC) policy.
- Complete applications for Social Assistance, Persons with Disability (PWD), Persons with Persistent Multiple Barriers (PPMB).
- Processing and preparing Budgets and Decision forms on a monthly basis that includes maximum allowable rates for basic and shelter support.
- Maintains a confidential file (electronic/ hard copies) on each client which is to include case notes recordings, copies of all required forms in connection with applications for assistance.
- Works with Social Development Administrator to ensures timely payments of Income Assistance cheques (using Sage 300).
- Completes annual/regular reviews of Income Assistance client files, including T5 preparation, to ensure ongoing eligibility requirements are being met.
- Support Jordans Principal applications and inquiries.
- Support members with referrals such as First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) and other benefits as available.
- Secures grant funding to contribute to community wellness programs, services, supports.
- Ensure client communications regarding file eligibility, requirements, and updates are completed and documented in a timely manner.
- Assists clients with support in accessing training, education, and employment opportunities through partnership with the WLFN Employment Coordinator.
- Aids clients in accessing supports to encourage independence, such as referring clients to Housing, Health, etc.
- Participates in On-Call Rotation for Social Development after hours emergency phone line (1 week per month 8:00 am - 8:00 pm inclusive of weekends and holidays).
- Contributes to the WLFNs ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned.
