Location: 85 Morrow Road, Barrie, Ontario

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Executive Director and Vice President, this role oversees the 85 Morrow Road and 340 Huronia Road operations from a strategic level. In collaboration with the Director of Procurement and Purchasing Department and Manufacturing Managers for both facilities, the Director will build the operational strategy through directing and evaluating the processes within the operations. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves developing strategic plans, optimizing manufacturing processes, and leading a team to meet production goals while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Focus on developing and executing the company's business strategies, while providing strategic advice to ownership.
  2. Provide manufacturing vision including developing and executing a long-term manufacturing plan for the future of the company that supports company growth goals and provides strategic direction on manufacturing processes, manufacturing technology, manufacturing facility expansion, product line enhancement and operational core competencies.
  3. Directs and oversees the manufacturing processes for both operations, through key personnel, training and the management of the Manufacturing Managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  4. Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and drive professional growth opportunities.
  5. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the operations, working with key Project Managers and Directors.
  6. Collaborate with Director of Finance to develop budgets to support the infrastructure.
  7. Collaborates with the Director of Procurement & Supply Chain to create forecasts for strategic buying.
  8. Working with the Production and Quality Teams, drive initiatives to reduce waste, defects and inefficiencies from a strategic level on production.
  9. Working with the Project Managers, provides input into plans around strategic business plans for capital expenditures and analysis, to present to the Director of Finance and ownership.
  10. Participates in manufacturing capital expenditure purchases including reviewing in full, terms and conditions and making notes for legal review, negotiations, and working with the project management team, ensuring all documentation is together for presentation to ownership. Working with inside and outside legal counsel to ensure best practices and foresight are considered and ensures they are employed before, and during capital planning and onboarding.
  11. Collaborates with R&D on managing and overseeing production trials and providing business cases as to whether it is a strategic endeavour from a manufacturing cost perspective.
  12. Provides input into the costing review from a strategic perspective, to contribute to, and determine if product manufacturing choice is the best decision(s) for the future growth of the company.
  13. Duty to attend, participate and contribute to the direction of the company's overall goals from a strategic level and provide managerial oversight from a directorial level.
  14. Oversee daily production operations, ensuring alignment with business goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  15. Lead process improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to enhance operational excellence.
  16. Maintains complete knowledge of and comply with company and departmental policies, procedures and standards.
  17. Maintains client and company confidence by keeping information confidential and secure.
  18. Maintains a positive working relationship with team members and management in a team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in Operations Management from an accredited university or college preferred; will consider 15+ years' experience as a Manufacturing Manager or related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 15+ years manufacturing management experience.
  • Strategic leadership experience, in building and driving operational processes and cost savings.
  • Budgeting analysis and capital expenditure planning.
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement project management experience.
  • Proficient hands-on ERP/MRP systems experience.
