Soma Craft Cidery is currently seeking an independent bookkeeper to join their team on a part-time, temporary 14-month contract basis. If you have a strong background in accounting and a solid understanding of payroll processes, this could be the perfect opportunity for you! In this role, you'll work autonomously while building meaningful relationships that support the overall success of the cidery. Your expertise will play a key role in managing financials and ensuring smooth operations, with the opportunity to make a significant impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full cycle bookkeeping including recording all financial transactions, maintaining accurate ledgers, and reconciling bank statements;
- Reconciling the integrated sales platform to Quickbooks;
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts, and following up on overdue accounts;
- Process payroll on a regular schedule, including reviewing and approving employee expenses/credit cards, reconciling timesheets, and managing attendance records (vacation, sick leave, overtime);
- Prepare month-end financial reports, including necessary adjustments, reconciliations, and ensuring proper documentation for CFO review;
- Generate monthly management reports, providing insights into financial performance and cash flow for the leadership team;
- Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maintaining adequate working capital;
- Ensure compliance with government reporting requirements (e.g., PST, payroll taxes, HST/GST);
- Support the external CFO by providing financial data and insights as requested, preparing for quarterly reviews, and assisting in strategic financial planning;
- File and organize financial documents, ensuring proper record-keeping and easy retrieval for audits or reviews;
- Other duties as assigned, supporting day-to-day financial tasks to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of full cycle Bookkeeping experience;
- Certification or related education in business or accounting is an asset;
- Proficiency with accounting software Quickbooks is an asset;
- Strong computer literacy, including excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Knowledge of accounting principles and best practices;
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and record keeping;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks;
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively;
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team setting;
- Ability to handle data with confidentiality and integrity.
This position is anticipated to begin as soon as possible, offering approximately three days a week in-office initially and then potential for a hybrid opportunity. Soma Craft Cidery understands the importance of work-life balance and is committed to offering flexibility in scheduling, while ensuring that the team's goals and objectives are met. The hourly rate for this position will range from $28 to $34, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, the successful candidate will be eligible to participate in the company's group benefit program.
