About This Role

Were seeking a Front End (UI/UX) Designer with a strong focus on visual design and user-centered methodologies to support a large-scale digital service initiative. In this role, you will create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and component libraries for an enterprise-level public sector service. The ideal candidate has proven experience in Agile team environments, is passionate about accessibility, and excels in iterative design thinking.

Work Eligibility & Location

This role requires candidates to be located in Canada and eligible to work in Canada. While we are fully remote and offer flexibility in working hours, there will be times when availability during 7:30am-3:30pm PST / 8:30am-4:30pm MST / 10:30am-6:30pm EST is required to align with team collaboration and project needs.

What youll do

  • Create and iterate wireframes, storyboards, prototypes, and final UI designs that address user needs and government service goals.
  • Leverage and evolve component libraries to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across multiple digital platforms.
  • Conduct design research, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations to inform actionable improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (service design, product, engineering) to develop cohesive, user-centered solutions.
  • Integrate WCAG 2.1+ standards and follow best practices for inclusive design while adhering to government guidelines.
  • Participate in sprints, iterative design cycles, and other Agile rituals to align deliverables with sprint goals.
  • Audit and optimize interfaces based on user analytics, feedback, and best practices.
  • Promote design thinking by exploring multiple solutions and selecting the most effective approach.
  • Document and share design rationale, guidelines, and requirements to support stakeholder understanding.

What youll bring

  • 3+ years of UI/UX design experience delivering user-centric interfaces for government or large-scale digital solutions.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency with industry-standard design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Axure).
  • Expertise in leveraging and governing design systems for enterprise-level digital ecosystems.
  • Thorough knowledge of WCAG 2.1+ guidelines and proven inclusive design strategies.
  • Experience working in Agile environments, contributing to sprint cycles and iterative design processes.
  • Familiarity with dedicated public sector digital offices or equivalent government/enterprise projects.
  • Proficiency in design thinking, with the ability to iterate quickly based on user feedback or data insights.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate design decisions and roadmaps to diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with emerging design tools and best practices.
