Overview:
We are looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our team in Surrey, BC. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will work closely with the Payroll & Benefits Administrator and together they will play a crucial role supporting all of Mainland Groups operations. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for the full cycle recruitment of skilled trades positions ensuring project sites are staffed in an efficient, timely manner with qualified employees while creating an exceptional candidate experience. They will work closely with and support the field management teams.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Conduct full life cycle of recruiting from internal / external posting to hiring for union hourly positions and office staff including but not limited to:
- Actively source qualified candidates in a timely and cost-effective manner, including coordinating background checks.
- Recruit, screen, and interview candidates presenting the best talent to Operations for consideration in a high volume, demanding environment.
- Create, extend, and bring offers to a close, including preparing and presenting new hire packages.
- Develop content for job postings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of union and non-union craft management practices.
- Be responsible for the organization and maintenance of personnel records, including but not limited to the creation of new employee files, upkeeping of existing employee records, and the processing of terminated employees.
- Representation at career fairs, community events, trade shows, etc. for recruitment opportunities.
- Developing a good understanding of, and relationship with, apprenticeship schools and other education partners.
- Actively gain knowledge on recruiting trends, understanding how they align with Mainlands business priorities.
- Accountable for measuring results and meeting objectives including: time-to-fill, quality candidates (probation period success rate, quality of hire metric, turnover metrics).
- Maintains knowledge of employment laws to ensure compliance across the business.
- Develop and execute various employee engagement survey process, reporting and actions follow-up.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by the CEO or senior management team.
Skills And Experience Required:
- 2-4 years experience in a Human Resources role preferably in a construction or similar organization.
- Human Resources knowledge such as EEOC, FLSA, diversity recruiting and interview best practices including an understanding of workforce-related federal provincial employment laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of union and non-union craft management practices.
- Demonstrate the ability to be initiative-taking, proactively reaching out to construction teams and leaders to move the hiring process forward.
- Proven performance in sourcing, screening, interviewing, developing offers and closing deals.
- Must be well versed in online recruitment resources and keep up to date on the latest trends.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work well within a team, while at the same time be responsible for his/her own results and be able to be self-sufficient.
- Supportive of a culture that encompasses the highest ethical standards.
- Strong and Professional Verbal and Written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Must be organized and professional.
- Familiarity with international recruitment and the LMIA process is considered an asset.
