IDEAL CANDIDATE

Reporting to the VP of Construction, the Field Operations Director will play a critical role in concurrently overseeing several multi-family wood frame construction projects throughout Western Canada. This requires hands-on leadership and the ability to coordinate with multiple teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership
    • Create and support a strong team morale by leading, mentoring, and managing on-site construction teams. Demonstrate leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, direct others, and effectively address conflict.
  • Safety Compliance
    • Ensure all construction activities comply with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety on all job sites.
  • Site Systems Implementation
    • Consistently implement process improvement initiatives and manage any environmental or local community issues that arise during a project
    • Offer ongoing systems support and mentorship to Project Teams, fostering their professional growth and ensuring effective use of Takt Scheduling and the Highstreet Production system.
  • Day to Day Operational Support
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Provide operational support to ensure projects are completed according to Highstreets standards and uphold company values. Develop and execute project work plans based on budget and adhering to schedule workflow and roadblock removal.
    • Be able to anticipate, identify, monitor and manage project issues and risks. Resolve design and construction challenges that may arise. Excellent communication, conflict management and interpersonal abilities.
    • Exhibit commitment to quality and ensure project progress by conducting regular site inspections. Implement and enforce quality control in a manner that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding project expectations.
  • Trade Partner Relationships
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, trade partners, and suppliers.
  • Project Schedule & Budget Oversight
    • Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met and cost-saving measures are implemented.
    • Oversee schedule and procurement, contract negotiations, project bids and coordination. Create and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are met using Takt Scheduling and Highstreet Production system.
    • Monitor and report progress to stakeholders and senior management by preparing and presenting regular reports on project progress, budget status, and other key metrics.

Required experience:

Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in construction management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.

Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field preferred.

Comprehensive experience with multi-family wood frame projects.

In-depth knowledge of building trades, superior communication and motivational skills and an ability to monitor and oversee project progress.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and regulations.

Knowledge and experience with project management principles.

Proficiency in construction management software and tools.

Effective problem solving, risk mitigation, trade management skills required.

Knowledge and training related to Lean Construction Methodology is an asset.

Competent in using Microsoft Office including Excel and Outlook is required. Microsoft Teams experience is an asset.

Bluebeam experience is an asset.

Be able to read and interpret plans, specs, and regulations.

PMP or equivalent an asset.

Additional requirements:

Satisfactory criminal and credit record check.

Travel expected 35% of role
