Your Impact:

Crozier is looking for an Intermediate Electrical Designer to join our Utility Infrastructure Group in our Milton office. In this role you will be working with project managers and utility coordinators to design detailed electrical systems for a wide range of projects, such as commercial sites, parks, subdivisions, intersections, and roadways.

You will support the team and use your expertise to coordinate, review and prepare designs for power distribution, streetlighting, traffic signalizations, and overhead pole lines. Our ideal candidate should be flexible, receptive to feedback, and willing to step outside their comfort zone to acquire new skills.

How you will contribute to the team:

  • Identify electrical and utility requirements, prepare detailed electrical designs (including CAD drawings) for various projects such as commercial sites, parks, subdivisions, intersections, and roadway and traffic signalizations.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop or modify electrical/utility servicing designs, ensuring compliance with client specifications and approval requirements.
  • Coordinate the location of new and existing utilities (e.g., hydro, gas, cable, telephone); request cost estimates, review relocation design documents, and manage work schedules for required relocations.
  • Provide technical support during construction, expediting design changes as needed.
  • Conduct on-site field reviews, assess as-constructed electrical works, and prepare field review reports and directions.
  • Stay updated on current electrical codes, provincial/municipal engineering standards, and requirements from reviewing agencies.
  • Work closely with engineers, engineering interns, and multidisciplinary teams (civil, architectural, transportation) to resolve conflicts and support the preparation of concept designs, sketches, calculations, and drawing submissions.
  • Review and interpret drawings from multiple disciplines, including civil, landscape, transportation, structural, and mechanical.
  • Provide technical training, mentoring, and guidance to junior designers.
  • Analyze design issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Manage project deadlines, track progress, and provide regular updates to project team and supervisor.
  • Estimate time requirements for completing tasks and provide input into project budgets.
  • Collaborate with peer CAD designers and students on project deliverables while ensuring high standards through thorough Quality Control reviews of designs and drawings.
  • Update and maintain electrical drawing and document templates (AutoCAD and MicroStation) to ensure consistency across projects and adherence to company standards and quality control procedures.

What you bring:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably with a consulting firm.
  • Proficiency in pole loading analysis software (e.g., SPIDAcalc, O-Calc Pro) is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Agi32, and Visual Roadway Tool, along with experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven experience and strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, and relevant ESA codes and regulations.
  • Experience attending project meetings with clients, developers, contractors, utilities and municipalities or approval agencies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
