LandSolutions is looking to expand their talent pipeline in the Greater Toronto Area to service our clients by supporting the Talent Sourcing team in our Land and Property Advisory Solutions Division.

We are looking for Land/ROW Agent to join our team and work directly in our Client's office. As Land/ROW Agent you will lead the effort to secure property assets and land access for infrastructure projects. Your role involves coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project goals are met. You will oversee property assessments, legal contracts, and negotiations with property owners, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and legal regulations. This is a term contract for initially 6 months with a potential for extension.

Responsibilities:

  • Support identification and acquisition of property required.
  • Lead consultation and negotiations with landowners and oversee contract terms and consultant fees, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.
  • Oversee the purchase of land or property rights, following company guidelines and legal regulations.
  • Work together with both internal and external partners, as well as real estate and project teams, to ensure property assets and land access are secured for project delivery.
  • Help find and obtain properties needed for successful infrastructure projects, to assist project teams in delivering their goals.
  • Oversee the work of both in-house employees and outside contractors as they carry out property assessments, surveys, legal contracts, and other essential property-related paperwork.
  • Provide expert advice and support to project teams in developing cost estimates, identifying risks, and proposing strategies to mitigate risks and achieve project goals.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain a variety of property-related reports, briefing documents, and presentation materials tailored for diverse client groups and senior executives.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience as a Land/ROW Agent/Negotiator (or related work experience)
  • Bachelor's degree in fields such as Real Estate, Land Use Planning, Urban Land Economics, Business Administration, Communications, Law, Engineering, or related disciplines, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Professional designations or certifications in Real Estate, Planning, Project Management, or related fields would be considered an asset.
  • Proven track record in negotiations and appraisal acquisitions, preferably within public infrastructure projects, either in public or private sectors.
  • Familiarity with or understanding of the Expropriations Act and construction practices.
  • Expertise in real estate practices including land titles, commercial leasing, property appraisals, negotiations, acquisitions, and land development.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's license, and insurance.
