Job DescriptionAs a valued team member of MSC Canada, your first priority is to demonstrate accountability, a superior level of Customer Service and quick action consistently and constantly in your role. Key accountabilities
Specific Tasks / IMPORT
- Provide exceptional customer service and follow up (measured by accuracy and effectiveness of communication) while resolving customer issues
- Compare and ensure accuracy between information found in bayplan and shipments manifested in MSC Link.
- Coordinate transportation and rail instructions between terminals, CN rail, CBSA and Port of Vancouver.
- Assist steamship releases and ensuring correct pick up numbers are provided to the customer
- Run report to catch any units which may be falling on CN/terminal storage
- Creating Vessel Forecasts and Recaps to be submitted to terminals
- Create EDI 404 Rail Billing Report and treat Discrepancies
- Dispatching Import Line Hauls
- Monitor dwell times of each terminal and ensure that containers are being loaded to rail according to priority and on basis of first in, first out.
- Submit all hazardous documents to Port of Vancouver and changes to Canada Customs
- Submit Manual Rail Billing for both Hazardous and Multi B/L
- Execute Expedited Rail Services with various local terminals
Specific Tasks / Export
- Act as a liaison between MSC Agency and terminal
- Ensure required adjustments to vessel and rail planning based on what is actually brought to terminal
- Produce various reports and schedules for internal and external users
- Perform daily cleaning of vessel for rail and terminal
- Carry out Comparative Reports (comparison of physical count at terminal with what is in MSC Link)
- Communicate with Customer Service to verify missing VGM's
- Request from equipment Department list of empty containers for repositioning and send to planners with OBL (list of full containers)
- Create, merge, edit and send OBL (list of full containers) to terminal planners (with manager approval)
- Reconcile any discrepancies between terminal load list and MSC Link
- Create VCI report (input hours for everything cost related that happens at the terminal and send to cost control to match against invoice
- Create vessel maximum report (snapshot of all Canadian vessels on bookings vs. capacity)
- Create coastal schedule for partner carriers showing cut-offs on MSC vessels
- Compile rail status report indicating containers sitting at rail and units waiting to go on rail
- Create projection report for partner carriers notifying of # of boxes scheduled on MSC vessels
- Export Manual Rail Billing
- Providing full support to other MSC Canada departments which are inquiring for any assistance related to West Coast Vessel Export Ops.
- Process IMO (HAZ cargoes) bookings as per MSC procedure in timely manner;
- Send MVC to customers in case significant change of vessel schedule or port rotation (as per Corporate Ops approval);
- Setting up the routings in the MSC LINK as per Bookers requests in timely manner
- Coordinate any vessel schedule change to amend ERD and Cut Off dates;
- Setting up Late Gates as per customer requests;
- Providing Empty Evacuation plan to terminals as per MSC Equipment figures and to Vessel Planners
- Negotiate and follow up the charges applicable for any containers movement, status change, booking amendment (etc) as per terminal contract agreement;

- 0-2 years of experience in operations with a passion for the shipping industry.
- Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills in the English language, French is an asset.
- Minimum High school Diploma.
Position Goals
The Operations Representative will be expected to master the required skill set within 3 the month probation period.
