Job Title: Project EngineerReporting directly to the General Manager or their designate, the Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing engineering and construction activities on the Eskay Creek project. This role is integral in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with technical specifications and industry best practices.This role will focus on maintaining quality control, tracking project progress, and ensuring compliance with site safety regulations while optimizing project execution.Responsibilities (including but not limited to):Access Planning & Construction Support
  • Develop access plans for work execution and temporary construction access roads.

  • Assist the Operations Engineer and Placement Planner in maintaining a material balance register, including aggregates, borrow sources, and waste dumps.

  • Plan detailed installations of critical infrastructure, including pipelines, water treatment systems, bridges, and ancillary facilities.

  • Assist mobile maintenance teams with equipment mobilization and assembly.

Technical Documentation & Quality Assurance
  • Draft and issue technical RFIs (Requests for Information)
  • Work closely with site QA/QC and Survey teams to monitor work fronts and ensure projects meet specifications.
Traffic & Safety Management
  • Develop, distribute, and maintain site traffic management plans.
  • Collaborate with Site Safety and Procurement to ensure contractors are properly onboarded and comply with all site safety regulations.

Contractor & Supply Scope Management
  • Track and monitor accruals for Contractor and Supply scopes.
  • Monitor, track, and report on Contractor scopes to ensure progress aligns with project timelines.

  • Provide input on contractor costs, progress, and forecasts to Project Controls.

Stakeholder Coordination
  • Coordinate with third-party stakeholders as required.
The Ideal CandidateEducation / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, construction, or mining engineering or other related discipline is required.

  • EIT or P.Eng. registration with EGBC is preferred.

Experience / Skills
  • Minimum 3-5 years of mining or heavy civil construction experience is required.

  • Strong understanding of design drawings, construction methodologies, and technical procurement.

  • Experience performing basic project engineering functions, including monitoring progress, preparing procedures, documenting communications and meetings, and identifying/evaluating project issues and problems.

  • Ability to coordinate efforts of technical disciplines, vendors, and licensors to ensure integrated and complete designs that meet project requirements and contractual obligations.

  • Experience with scheduling software (Primavera P6 or similar).

  • Experience with 3D design software (AutoCAD Civil3D or similar).

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.

  • Collaborative team player with an exceptionally proactive approach.

Work Location & ConditionsThis is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation. The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy. There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects. All Applicants MUST be legally entitled to work in Canada. Priority hiring consideration will be given to Indigenous Nations members who reside within the territories our projects are located.CompensationThe expected salary range for this position is CA$80,000 - CA$125,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia.
