Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director, Finance to lead our financial operations at Cando Rail & Terminals. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting and planning, risk management, and financial controls while driving technological advancements. This position reports to the AVP, Finance and requires a CPA designation and a strong background in leadership, with at least 10 years of experience, including experience in an operational role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Leadership & Strategy
    • Oversee the financial planning cycle, including budgeting and forecasting processes
    • Oversee the accounting operations cycles, including the order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles
    • Give strategic recommendations to finance leadership and the executive team
    • Present financial results to senior management, providing insights into key variances and operational outputs
    • Lead corporate insurance programs, ensuring adequate coverage for assets, liabilities, and operations
    • Maintain and administer financial policies and controls
    • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks through proactive strategies
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting standards
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, ensuring high performance and continuous development
    • Develop, recruit and hire team members to meet the needs of a growing company
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation
  • Process Improvement & Technology Advancement
    • Drive the modernization of financial systems and reporting tools, leveraging automation and data analytics
    • Enhance efficiency in financial workflows, including budgeting, invoicing, and reporting

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA designation is required
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing finance teams
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning and reporting, risk management, and experience implementing technological solutions
  • Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders
