Position: Building Technician (Afternoon/evening shift)

Location: Port Coquitlam Distribution Center (Head Office)

Shift: 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm

What You'll Do:
  • Conduct regular inspections of the building to ensure all equipment is in good working order
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components, and equipment within the building
  • Respond quickly and thoroughly to repair requests, troubleshoot equipment shutdowns, and diagnose issues with equipment to minimize downtime and disruptions
  • Communicate effectively with internal staff and external vendors to perform maintenance & repairs
  • Respond to emergency situations such as power outages, leaks, and system failures
  • Provide immediate corrective action to mitigate damage and ensure safety
  • Assist with spill clean-up within warehouse and ensure safety protocols are followed
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs including a daily log of maintenance tasks
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal staff and external vendors
  • Assist in the planning and execution of building projects and renovations within the building
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance activities
  • Provide assistance & support to other team members as needed for larger projects
  • Order and replenish supplies as necessary to support continuous operations
  • Address and resolve employee complaints and service requests
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager
Do you fit the part?
  • Minimum 3 years experience with building maintenance or related field
  • Ability to work flexible shifts
  • Strong technical skills and familiarity with building maintenance tools and equipment
  • Proficient in using a wide range of tools, from hand tools to power tools and specialized equipment
  • Capability to work in various environments including confined spaces, rooftops, and ladders
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Must be able to lift, move, push, pull or carry up to 50lbs
  • A strong team player, self motivated and proactive thinker with a track record of success
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group
  • Certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or welding is an asset
  • Experience with framing, drywall, concrete, plumbing and painting is an asset
  • Knowledge of WorkSafeBC, BC building Code, and BC Fire Code is an asset
  • Fork-truck and scissor lift certification is an asset
