HWCC is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous General Accountant to join our passionate team of education experts. As the General Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the college, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, possess excellent analytical and communication skills, have high level of attention to detail, and demonstrate a keen understanding of the education industry.
Location: In Office, Edmonton Campus at 4656 99 St NW Edmonton Alberta College of Massage Therapy
Reporting to Controller, the General Accountant, will assist with the day-to-day accounting functions including, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial record keeping, month end deliverables and more.
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Full Time)

Qualifications & Experience:
- A diploma or degree in accounting (working towards a CPA designation is an asset)
- A minimum of 2-3 years of general accounting experience is required.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accounting journal entries or accounting functions to ensure accuracy within financial records.
- Ensuring all accounting records have appropriate supporting documentation and audit trails
- Support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Duties or projects as assigned by the controller
- Help to Reconcile various accounts and bring them up to date.
- Assist Month-end closing process and financial year-end closings, under the guidance of the Controller.
- Ensure receivable entries are completed and accurate.
- Ensure spreadsheets are updated and are accurate.
- Ensure Withdraws, Cancellations, and Tuition refunds are being posted correctly.
- Other Entries such as required may include:
- Credit card transactions reconciliation and expense recording
- Student referral tracking and processing payments
- Maintain updated files for accounts and backup
- Keep active with training and development, fostering professional growth, and ensuring that you adhere to best practices and compliance standards
Required Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in data entry and computer skills including Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices under ASPE
- Experience with account reconciliation processes
- Familiarity with QuickBooks Online accounting software or similar
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to problem solve and or provide recommended solutions where necessary
- Highly keen to investigation and resolution or errors or issues
