Job Title: Mobile Maintenance Coordinator
Reporting directly to the Superintendent, Mobile Maintenance, this position is responsible for coordinating the maintenance program for all mobile equipment, fixed plant and light vehicles for the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project.
This role will coordinate all maintenance activities and ensure all project safety regulations and environmental procedures are implemented for maintenance work at Eskay Creek. The Mobile Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance activities and fleet planning.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Maintenance Coordination:
Manage and coordinate all maintenance activities for the mobile equipment fleet, ensuring timely and effective service to minimize operational downtime.
Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program for all mobile equipment, prioritizing tasks based on operational requirements.
Oversee maintenance for the fixed plant, ensuring its continuous and efficient operation.
Assist mechanics in prioritizing and addressing equipment maintenance needs.
Monitor and report on equipment fleet status, including downtime, uptime, preventive maintenance (PM), and other performance metrics to site management.
Inventory and Parts Management
Oversee the procurement and management of all essential consumables, including fuel, lubricants, DEF, oils, tires, and parts for the site.
Track and monitor inventory usage, ensuring that reordering occurs in a timely manner to maintain stock levels.
Coordinate with the warehousing team to ensure proper inventory tracking and management of parts and consumables.
Order and maintain an adequate supply of critical spares, minimizing disruptions to operations.
Budget and Cost Management
Develop, manage, and track the maintenance budget, ensuring all expenditures are within allocated limits.
Monitor and report maintenance-related costs, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to management.
Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising operational efficiency or safety.
Safety, Compliance, and Reporting
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture among all workers, ensuring adherence to health and safety policies and site-specific guidelines.
Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and report any safety or environmental incidents promptly to senior management.
Provide input to the Project Controls team for weekly reports, covering safety, progress, and operational performance.
Communicate with project team members, site management, vendors, and regulators to ensure smooth operations.
Vendor and Supplier Coordination
Establish and maintain strong relationships with equipment vendors and maintenance suppliers to ensure the availability of resources when needed.
Coordinate with vendors to schedule and manage timely deliveries of parts and materials for maintenance operations.
Vehicle Fleet and Miscellaneous Duties
Manage the light vehicle fleet, ensuring all vehicles receive proper maintenance, insurance, tire management, and repairs.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by the company, contributing to the efficiency and success of site operations.
The Ideal Candidate
Must have a minimum of 3 years direct experience in heavy equipment and/or mining maintenance.
Demonstrated work experience in equipment maintenance planning.
Must have a Valid Driver's License.
Experience working in a remote mining or industrial environment is required.
Skills/Experience:
Expert in Heavy Duty Equipment maintenance.
Work in a similar role for a mine or large heavy civil/mining contractor.
Experience with scheduling.
Detailed understanding of technical aspects of maintenance including reading drawings, understanding parts procurement and contractor management.
Experience in contract management, budget supervision, customer service and stakeholder management.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize while under pressure.
Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions:
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. Additionally, the job is in a fast-paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
