The Opportunity

Picton Mahoney Asset Management is presently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join the Finance team as a Corporate Accountant. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Manager to manage the corporate financial accounting responsibilities and administration of the firm.

The successful candidate should be entrepreneurial in nature and be comfortable working in a dynamic organization experiencing tremendous growth. This opportunity requires the successful candidate to work in a hybrid model out of our office in Toronto.

Youll have the opportunity to learn and lead

  • Full-cycle corporate accounting, including preparation of journal entries, account ledger reconciliations, and lead-sheet analysis
  • Coordinate and provide documentation for the external audit of the firms financial statements on an annual basis
  • Assist with revenue collection, wire transfers, and day-to-day banking transactions as required
  • Manage the accounts payable function and assemble vendor invoices for tracking and review
  • Oversee the fund expense allocation and reimbursement process
  • Assist with supplier management and implementation of new vendor invoice management tool
  • Produce ad-hoc reporting and filings with regulatory bodies and government agencies
  • Prepare operating budgets and provide meaningful analysis for decision-making across various departments
  • Manage the distribution of statements and other records within the Finance department
  • Communicates and enforces sound accounting policies and internal controls
  • Identifies and implements process improvement initiatives including automation of working papers
  • Liaise with various parties such as external auditors, lawyers, fund administrators, vendors and internal departments
  • Provide support to the Director of Finance and Finance Manager on ad-hoc tasks and special projects as required

What were looking for

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred but not mandatory
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience in the financial industry
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks) is preferred
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong analytical skills and fundamental accounting knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership for responsibilities
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • High level of integrity in a professional environment
  • Results-oriented individual with a spirit for continuous improvement and desire to remain up-to-date with changes in the fund industry
