Roofing Crew Lead

SkyFire Energy is looking to add to its team of Solar Installers who are excited to work as part of a fast-growing company in the solar industry.

We are looking for an experienced Roofer/Shingler to join our team in Calgary, AB. The Roofing Crew will play an integral role in laying out and starting our solar installations, as well as responding to service requests. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in sloped roof applications, and is experienced in leading small crews. This individual will also have a strong Safety background, and provide high-quality workmanship.

Primary duties include:

  • Safely access sloped roofs and set anchor points for your team
  • Layout of solar arrays based on layout and structural drawings provided
  • Using tools, both manual and powered, to install mounts and junction boxes
  • Inspect roofs for damage or defects and perform necessary repairs
  • Ensure a safe and organized worksite
  • Helping with site upkeep as required
  • Assist in the training of new team members on roofing best practices and safety procedures

Qualifications:

    • Comfortable working on roofs (usually sloped) in all weather conditions - minimum of 2 years previous work experience in the roofing trade is required
    • Experience and knowledge of asphalt shingle roofing installation and repair
    • Previous experience in leading small teams to successful project completion
    • Willingness to learn and adhere to all safety rules and regulations
    • Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and work on ladders for extended periods
    • Having the drive to complete various tasks, sometimes repetitive
    • Experience working with hand and power tools
    • A valid class 5 license with a clean driving record, and/or reliable transportation.
    • Able to work in a team setting as well as independently
    • Strong communication skills
    • An interest in renewable energy!

Assets (preferred but not required):

  • Prior solar installation experience, however on the job training will be provided
  • Experience working on flat roofs (torch on, PVC and TPO)
  • Experience working on cedar, metal and rubber roofs
