The Ride Commission Product Technician is responsible for carrying out ride commissioning tasks for new water slide attractions and requalification of existing attractions, with a focus on the diagnostics control systems functionality and the supporting electrical peripherals.
This role involves interaction with clients facing representatives, and internal groups such as Product Development, Project Management, Field Service and Ride Design Engineering.
Please note this is an in-office position, located at our head office in Ottawa, ON, address: 2650 Queensview Dr. Unit #150, Ottawa, ON K2B 8H6.
YOUR CHALLENGE:
- Accountable for the overall project deliverable of ride commissioning, that include gravity ride types and technology enhanced attractions.
- Trouble shooting of electrical peripherals that are used in conjunction with the custom ride control system, which can include technologies such as sensors, networking communications, weight scales, red-light green-light systems, pumps, and human machine interfaces HMI(s).
- Characterization of ride performance through the management of pump flows and other operational attributes.
- Provide training to clients and their staff on the overall operations and maintenance of commissioned products.
- Conduct post installation audits of fiberglass, steel infrastructure and accessories that make up the water slide attractions.
- Capable of leading ride commissioning activities with assigned internal resources and clients participating in ride verification.
- Development of Standard of Operating procedures and Work Instructions on overall functionality of department.
- Compile formal site reports on work accomplished during daily project commissioning phase.
- Support the Handling, Control of Nonconforming Material, through the submission of a Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
- Conduct assigned Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to validate design intent performance and functionality of commissioning control system.
- Conduct post ride commission reviews on ride performance and control system functionality to OEM channel partner.
- No limitations with global travel and can reach up to 6 weeks of being out of the office and traveling 70% of the time.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
Education:
- Bachelors Degree or Technologist/Technician in either an Electromechanical or Mechatronics College program. A combination of hands-on work experience and education will be considered in lieu of identified educational requirements.
- 1-3 years in a similar customer-facing role.
Required Experience:
- Understanding of DC and AC principles, including motor controls such as VFD(s).
- Capable of validating Programmable Logic Controllers and their interfaces to electromechanical inputs and outputs.
- Experience with hands-on activities and comfortable using various handheld mechanical tools, multimeters and other validation test equipment.
- Knowledgeable Siemens (STEP 7/TIA Portal) and Rockwell (RS Logix 5000/Studio 5000)
- Understanding of networking communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP, Fiber Optics).
- Interpreting industry standards such as ASTM, EN, ISO, and IEC.
- Working directly with the assigned Project Manager, via electronic communications and through verbal conversations.
- MS Office applications (Excel, and Word).
- Interpreting mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings (MEP).
- Comfortable using E-drawing or SolidWorks to review parts as required.
