The Visitor Service Attendant is the first point of contact with visitors to the Bioclean Aquatic Centre. Knowledgeable and engaging, they play a vital part in ensuring a rewarding visitor experience and in promoting the facility's public programs, events and memberships. This position acts as a support for all programs. The Visitor Service Attendant must be able to tactfully deal with the public and must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Visitor Service Attendants provide exceptional customer service, maintain lobby readiness for visitors, accurately process payments and assist with emergency procedures.
Duties
- Perform a variety of customer service functions, including performing initial greetings, answering and forwarding calls, checking facility users in and out, and issuing passes/registrations to various recreational services.
- Process payments for admissions, memberships, bookings, merchandise and program registrations.
- Provide specific recreational information to the public, including answering questions about programs offered, suggesting appropriate programs for the individual's needs, explaining rules, regulations, program fees and schedules, and providing directions as necessary (in person or over the phone).
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
- Assist in receiving and inventory of retail and operational supplies.
- Maintain open lines of communication with lifeguards, instructors and office staff.
- Communicate and coordinate with appropriate staff members and supervisors to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.
- Operate standard office equipment including copier, fax, filling systems, phones, cash register, and computer.
- Use computer programs available to design, print and edit recreational facility signs and posters.
- Receive, sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity, and professionalism to internal and external customers.
- Train part-time and seasonal staff in VSA functions.
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
- Other related duties as required.
The position is office based and may be required to workday, evening, and weekend shifts throughout the week. Part Time positions work primarily evening and weekend shifts Monday to Sunday.Qualifications:
- Previous experience in cash handling and customer service.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to effectively and tactfully deal with the public.
- Possess basic computer skills.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - C certificate
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Successful applicant must provide proof of qualifications
- Applicants with international education will be required to include an Academic Credential Assessment with application.
