The Role
Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the Quality Assurance Planner is responsible for overseeing the companys Quality Assurance program, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting continuous improvement in Maintenance operations. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement quality assurance policies, conduct audits, and support safety initiatives under the Safety Management System (SMS). Additionally, the position oversees training programs, assesses staff competency, and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining operational excellence by monitoring maintenance activities, facilitating training, and driving a culture of quality and safety within the organization.
You will work a 40-hour shift a week shift, most likely 10-hour shifts, 4 days on and 3 days off. However, the company reserves the right to change the schedule. The start of the shift may vary depending on aircraft requirements. Any overtime work will be compensated according to Canada Labour Code.
Responsibilities
QA
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including flight operations, maintenance, safety, and training, to address quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Have a thorough understanding of all the Policy and Procedures contained within the Maintenance Control Manual (MCM), Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM), and the General Procedures Manual (GPM)
- Annual review and revision of Company Regulatory Documents that require amendments due to regulatory changes or company direction. This includes the MCM, MPM and DIRs.
- Submit to Transport Canada any additional requirements for Maintenance Schedule Approvals
- Analyze data and performance metrics to assess quality trends, identify root causes of deficiencies, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and enhance overall quality performance.
- Provide oversight a couple of days a month on maintenance being conducted on the hanger floor to determine areas that could require further training for our staff.
- Ensure the annual company audit is completed
- Document the audit findings and verify that the corrective actions to address findings are implemented
- Adhere to and assist with the development of new company SOP's, Memo's and Directives.
- Ensures that the Quality Assurance Program is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and propose measures to improve upon Quality and Safety within Anderson Air Maintenance department practices
- Reports on the performance of the quality assurance system to management.
SMS
- Promote a safety culture throughout the department by encouraging hazard identification and incident reporting as required by the Safety Management System
- Actively supports the company Safety Management System and participate in SMS investigations as requested
Maintenance
- Review and Process all ACA, EWA and SCA applications and renewals
- Monitoring maintenance activities on all company aircraft to ensure they are conducted at specified intervals and in accordance with applicable instructions and standards
- Ensure maintenance releases are correct and filed appropriately
- Carry out the duties of an AME and assist with maintenance on aircraft when required.
- Expert on company Maintenance Software, and provide training for new AME's on how to utilize the system.
- Assess additional training requirements
- Facilitate Pilot EWA Training as required
- Facilitate training and education programs for employees to promote awareness of quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned
Who You Are
- Hold a valid AME M2 license with preference given to those with both M1&M2
- Minimum 10 years experience performing Aircraft Maintenance
- Proactive approach to problem solving
- Good understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Power point considered an asset
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, customer orientation & demonstrated problem-solving focus
- Must have an excellent understanding of the Canadian Aviation Regulations
- Work independently as well as in a team environment
