Mulgrave is one of Canadas leading independent co-educational pre-K 12 day schools, serving the North Shore of Vancouver. We are an established IB Continuum World School with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We are now seeking a Middle School Vice Principal to start in August 2025.
Reporting to the Principal of the Middle School, the Middle School Vice Principal and Interdisciplinary Coordinator is a contributing member of the Middle School Leadership Team (MSLT). The Vice Principal will share responsibility for supporting the goals and philosophy of the Middle School, with a specific focus on Grades 6 and 7. A focus will be to continue the development of the interdisciplinary approach across the Middle School.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily supervision of students
- Develop, embody, manifest and advocate for the strategic goals and vision of the Middle School
- Coordinate the LEAP Programme (Learning Enrichment and Personalisation)
- Coordinate and oversee Middle School faculty supervision duties
- Coordinate key academic assessments (G7 FSA exams, G7 Science Fair, Grade 6 Adventure Days), including faculty invigilation schedules
- Oversee/lead different Middle School initiatives
- Help monitor and support the quality of (grade 6 and 7) co-curricular programming to ensure it aligns with divisional goals and priorities
General (Day to Day)
- Support the general ethos of the Middle School by promoting inclusivity and a sense of community, and by attending Middle School events, special activities and celebrations
- Assist with the planning of collaborative working and professional development sessions
- Attend and contribute to MSLT meetings
- Assist with organising and leading Townhall meetings for the Middle School
- Assist with planning and coordinating of new student orientation
Teaching and Learning
- Oversee the effective use of student data (MIDYIS, FSA) to improve student learning
- Support best learning and teaching practices through role modeling
- Assist with the implementation of strategic teaching and learning development priorities which will help us to achieve the Middle School goals
- Work with the Grade 5 team to ensure a smooth transition into Grade 6 and the Middle School
- Support the Middle School Principal in monitoring the quality of learning through classroom observations, focus groups and stakeholder surveys
- Work with MYP Curriculum and Subject coordinators to ensure that core elements of the MYP programme are planned, taught and assessed
- Maintain an active role in the MYP reporting process
- Insure that the standards and practices of the MYP are upheld within the planning and delivery of the academic programme for grades 6 and 7.
- Ensure that school policies and practices are communicated effectively to grade 6 and 7 students and parents.
- Monitor the effectiveness of horizontal collaborative planning sessions which occur for colleagues in grades 6 and 7.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be a Canadian resident and legally entitled to work in Canada
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Education
- Minimum of 5 years teaching and/or leadership experience
- Experience with IB (MYP and DP) and BC curriculum preferred
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with experience in academic coordination
- Familiarity with assessment planning and student record management
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Have or be willing to obtain an age-appropriate First Aid Certificate
- A track record of successful team leadership and management

Compensation
The annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $90,000.00 - $135,000.00. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
