The mission of the EWSWA is to provide programs to manage the solid, non-hazardous waste generated in the County of Essex and the City of Windsor in an environmentally sound manner through processes which include, but are not necessarily limited to reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, and landfilling.About the TeamAs the Project Coordinator, EWSWA, you'll work closely with the Project Manager and other key stakeholders to support project planning, execution, and monitoring. Your efforts will contribute directly to waste diversion, organics, and sustainability initiatives that benefit the entire region.Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
  1. Project Coordination and Administration
    • Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing waste management projects to ensure timely completion
    • Maintain project documentation, including reports, permits, budgets, and regulatory submissions
    • Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and reports while ensuring alignment with project goals
    • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and municipalities to facilitate project success
    • Track deliverables, monitor project performance, and report to the Project Manager
    • Assist with contract administration, ensuring compliance with policies and service agreements
  2. Engineering and Technical Support
    • Review technical drawings, specifications, and reports to ensure compliance with project requirements
    • Assist in the preparation and submission of Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs) and permits
    • Support procurement activities, including preparing Requests for Quotations, Tenders, and Proposals
    • Provide on-site field support to ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards
  3. Data Collection and Reporting
    • Develop tracking systems to measure waste diversion, contamination rates, and program success
    • Conduct research and data analysis to support waste management improvements
    • Compile and organize reports, presentations, and grant applications
  4. Stakeholder Communication and Engagement
    • Liaise with municipalities, vendors, and community partners to ensure project alignment
    • Assist in the development of public outreach materials and stakeholder communication plans
  5. Logistics and Resource Coordination
    • Assist in developing training materials and conducting workshops for internal and external stakeholders
    • Organize training sessions, site visits, and program-related events
    • Ensure the availability and proper allocation of project resources
  6. Other Duties as Assigned
    • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as required
What You BringEducation:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is an asset
Experience and Expertise:
  • 0-2 years of experience in project coordination, waste management, environmental or civil engineering, or a related field. Relevant internships, co-op placements, or volunteer experience will be considered
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting technical drawings, contracts, and environmental reports
  • Experience working in a municipal or government setting is considered an asset
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with waste management principles, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Experience with procurement, contract administration, and budget tracking is an asset
Other Requirements:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel within Windsor and/or the County of Essex
  • Must provide a Ministry of Transportation Driver Abstract (Uncertified)
  • Must provide a Police Information Check (PIC) document
  • Availability to work weekends and afternoon/night shifts as required
