Job Title: Heavy Duty Equipment Technician

Reporting directly to the Superintendent, Mobile Maintenance, this position is responsible for coordinating the maintenance program for all mobile equipment, fixed plant and light vehicles for the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project.

This role will coordinate all maintenance activities and ensure all project safety regulations and environmental procedures are implemented for maintenance work at Eskay Creek. The Mobile Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance activities and fleet planning.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on heavy-duty equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company protocols.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on mining equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Conduct thorough troubleshooting to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess and monitor equipment performance, including computerized systems where applicable.
• Complete work orders accurately and maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
• Collaborate with other maintenance and operations personnel to coordinate equipment servicing and repairs in alignment with production schedules.
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, promoting a safe working environment and preventing accidents or incidents.
• Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical skills and stay current with advancements in equipment technology.
• Assist in the procurement of replacement parts and maintain inventory levels to support ongoing maintenance activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Operations or management team.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications / Skills:

• Red Seal certified (NOC 72401)
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
• Minimum of 3years of experience as a heavy-duty equipment technician, preferably in a mining or similar industrial setting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently.
• Familiarity with computerized diagnostic tools and software for equipment maintenance and monitoring.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to established safety protocols and procedures.
• Willingness to work in a challenging outdoor environment and adapt to changing weather and working conditions.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Work Location & Conditions:

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.

Compensation
The expected hourly rate for this role is $50 - $55, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in remote locations in British Columbia. Hourly ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
