The Electrical Apprentice will shadow the Industrial Electricians working as part of a team to install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in a manufacturing environment. The Electrical Apprentice will also routinely perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and components in order to ensure the continued safe, efficient and effective operation of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Technical
Learn to program and modify PLC programs (Allen Bradley & Siemens).
Learn to diagnose electrical faults on laser equipment (Trumpf & Rofin).
Provide effective and efficient troubleshooting expertise on all automated machines using electrical schematics and PLC logic.
Ensure adequate supply of electrical and controls spare parts in inventory.
Work with our engineering department to ensure that spare parts, training, manuals and parts standardization are adequately addressed during the installation of new equipment.
Support and complete predictive and preventative maintenance tasks and maintain documentation.
Involvement in Continuous Improvement Projects.
Ensure sub contractors adhere to all plant safety standards.
Support production with machine setup and operation when required.
Maintain preventative maintenance documentation.
Other
Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the Canadian HSE Management Standards, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 Management Systems.
Ensure QMS conforms to the requirements identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map.
Fulfill all responsibilities as identified in the Employee Handbook.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER INFORMATION

Education - discipline Technologist Diploma
Grade 12 or GED Equivalent

Technical Skills
Laser experience an asset
Good PC Skills using MS Office products, as well as Lotus Notes
Mechanical aptitude and skills a definite asset

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Positive team approach to obtain results
Flexibility to work all shifts and overtime when required

Must supply tools, annual tool allowance provided.
Wage: $30.59 at level 1.
