WHO WE ARE:

Alstar Group of Companies Ltd. has been providing quality construction services to the oil and gas industry since 1969. Located in Calgary, with projects throughout Western Canada, we are a leader in the oil and gas industry for turn-key new construction, maintenance and prefabrication and modular construction services.

Alstar Group is seeking both a Journeyman & 3rd year Apprentice Structural Welder to work in our Calgary Shop (8700 Venture Ave SE - not transit-accessible). Reporting to the department supervisor, the successful candidates will:

  • Fabrication of various structural steel components
  • Ensure production timelines are met and components are shipped on time
  • Fabricate components to exact design specifications
  • Read, understand and follow all Safe Work Practices and Procedures for machinery and equipment
  • Follow existing work standards and look for further improvements
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Other duties may apply

Requirements

In this role, the successful candidates will have:

  • Indentured along with CWB tickets for MCAW and FCAW,
  • CWB Flux Core Flat position minimum
  • CSTS-09/2020 or Energy Safety Canada Common Safety Orientation (CSO) ticket is mandatory
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, cut lists, and weld symbols
  • The ability to use tools & equipment safely and abide by the health and safety rules
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fitting experience would be an asset

Working Conditions

  • You will work in a large manufacturing facility with other trades present
  • Primarily inside work, some outside work may be required
  • Physically demanding position
