Job Title: Shipper/Receiver

Department: Operations
Work Location: CamTran - Sackville & Amherst, Canada
Reports To: Team Lead
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

About the Role: The Shipper/Receiver will be responsible for handling all incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring timely delivery, proper documentation, and accurate system entry. This role is critical to maintaining production efficiency and ensuring smooth logistics between Amherst and Sackville locations.

Key Responsibilities

Shipping Duties:

  • Schedule and coordinate trailers for transferring materials between Amherst and Sackville.
  • Prepare shipping paperwork for:
    • Finished transformers to customers.
    • Materials & transformers shipped to other CamTran locations.
    • Weekly shipment plans based on production schedules.
  • Liaise with shipping companies for scheduling and logistics.
  • Load finished goods for shipment, verifying packing slips and ensuring proper placement.
  • Communicate with external vendors for empty spool pickups and return shipments.
  • Conduct random inventory checks on finished goods before shipping.

Receiving Duties:

  • Unload incoming materials received at Amherst from suppliers, including Cobourg Warehouse, JFE, and Cooper.
  • Verify deliveries against packing slips and BOLs; accurately record received materials in the system.
  • Organize and store materials in designated racking bins.
  • Prepare material lists for Sackville transformer assembly and ship accordingly.
  • Load and transfer materials from Amherst to Sackville, ensuring proper system tracking.
  • Assist with receiving and transferring oil from trailers to storage tanks.

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the shipping yard, receiving areas, and warehouse.
  • Dispose of waste materials such as cardboard, garbage bins, and scrap skids.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures during shipping and receiving processes.
  • Travel between Amherst & Sackville may be required as part of regular job duties.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Prior experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with logistics coordination, inventory management, and BOL documentation.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and organizing materials.
  • Basic computer proficiency for inventory tracking and shipment scheduling.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills to coordinate with internal teams and external vendors.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Warehouse and yard environment with exposure to varying temperatures.
  • Requires lifting, moving materials, and standing for extended periods.
  • May involve outdoor work and travel between Amherst & Sackville locations.

Shift Schedule:Monday through Thursday from 6:00AM-4:30PM (10-hour shifts). Depending on the business's needs, overtime will be scheduled on Friday mornings at 6:00AM.
