Job Title: Controller

Position Overview:
We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller to lead the financial team. As the Controller, you will play a crucial role in shaping the company's financial strategy and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. Position Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting standard operating procedures
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the structure of the team for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Recommend benchmarks and key performance indicators against which measure the performance of company accounting operations
  • Ensure cross functional alignment with other departments within the overall Finance umbrella and support accounting team members growth and development.
  • Assist in the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Lead and coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. CPA practices and tax regulations, with a basic understanding of state-level taxes.
  • Performing other duties as assigned and, on an ad-hoc basis, to support the company's objectives
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis and Management:
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Monitor financial performance and variances, providing insights for improvement.
Accounting Oversight:
Manage the accounting department and 4 employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Oversee the preparation of tax returns and liaise with external auditors.
Internal Controls:
Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement.
Take responsibility for payroll
Team Leadership:
Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Collaborate with other departments to support business objectives and financial strategies.
Strategic Planning:
Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and assist in identifying opportunities for growth and cost efficiencies.
Qualifications:
· A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA is preferred.
· Similar experience as a Controller
· Minimum 8-10 years in accounting leadership
· 8-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
· Certified Public Accountant Designation is a requirement
· Audit experience is a requirement
· Tax Reporting experience is a requirement
· Multi-entity and Currency experience as well as consolidation is a requirement
· Expert level proficiency in MS Office software and Sage Business Vision
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
· Experience in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience:
  • Accounting Leadership 8-10 years (required)
Pay: $150 ,000.00 - $180,000 per year
