We are looking for a post-secondary placement student to join our Corporate Services Team! The studentwill work with the Fundraising and Events Officer to help raise funds for various programs and initiatives that will help decrease stigma associated with mental illness & addictions. You will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of events (such as Ride Dont Hide in June), fundraising, assisting in managing donor activities and revenue generation. The Fundraising and Events Assistant will represent the Agency in a range of community and business settings to help present information in an engaging, comprehensive, knowledgeable, and readily accessible manner to stakeholders, staff and clients

Status:Student Placement position geared towards students looking to complete placement hours, beginning in Spring 2025.

Salary: Unpaid Placement
Location: This position is based out of our 601- 7700 Hurontario St., Brampton office. Although we operate within a hybrid workplace model, staff are required to have on-site and/or community presence as per program and client needs.

What you will do:

  • Help edit, and coordinate submissions of fund development and grant writing initiatives including assisting with conceptualizing, designing and preparing new programs, program proposals and related reports, and writing and submitting all grant proposals and funding applications.
  • Help with the execution of CMHAs annual Ride, Dont Hide Event in June
  • Assist with the annual United Way Greater Toronto campaign through the development of new ideas, planning, and execution.
  • Prospect new individual and corporate donors, as assigned.
  • Assist in facilitating CMHA fundraising activities, including tracking and post-grant reporting.
  • Facilitate plans for securing corporate sponsorships for ongoing activities and events.
  • Help design and implement stewardship and recognition strategies which will ensure all donors receive correspondence, reports and updates in a timely manner.
  • Investigate new ways to lower event costs (ie. new apparel vendors for RDH).
  • Follow agency incident and risk policy and procedures when required and ensure follow-up on other issues or concerns, in consultation with the Manager
  • Provide general administrative assistance to the program and site as requested by the Manager.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

What you need to Join our Team:

  • Working towards a post-secondary degree or diploma in Fundraising or related field.
  • Superior knowledge and understanding of administrative role supporting teams
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector is an asset.
  • Fundraising and donor relations experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence.
  • Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework.
  • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.
  • Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel within and around Peel Region and Dufferin County.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report.
