Job Description

This position is responsible for leading and executing Farm Boy's financial planning, forecasting and budgeting requirements to support the business with adept financial analysis. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead Farm Boy's budgeting and forecasting processes concerning all areas of the business.
  • Lead the preparation and publication of periodic and quarterly financial performance and commentary.
  • Use financial modelling to improve forecasting accuracy, analyze business strategies and provide recommendations based on business case.
  • Help monitor external factors including: macroeconomic trends, competitive activity, retail and customer trends to improve the accuracy and reliability of forecasts, targets and financial plans and long-term strategic goals.
  • Provide support to business partners and gain insights into performance outcomes.
  • Collaborate with various external and internal teams within Farm Boy to identify opportunities within the business and support ad hoc requests.
  • Develop financial models, metrics and key performance indicators to support daily business operations and large strategic initiatives.
  • Actively pursue continuous improvement opportunities in terms of processes for efficient task completion
  • Support business plans and other strategic analysis.
  • May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires completion of a post-secondary education in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance, plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience building financial models and business cases.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Excel/Database and knowledge of AccPac, Vena or other ERP, accounting and financial planning software.
  • Ability to multitask and work under extreme deadlines while remaining detailed oriented.
  • Integrity and adherence to standards, policy and procedures.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent team work orientation with the ability to work independently.
  • Retail experience would be considered an asset.

Work & Sensory Environment:

  • Stress from open office noise.
  • Sitting for long periods of time at workstations (e.g. while keyboarding).
  • Lack of control over pace due to multiple and/or tight deadlines beyond one's control.
  • Exposure to eye strain from computer terminals.
