  • Clearing & Safety Measures Inspect the work area to ensure it is clear of obstructions before pushing material over the edge into an excavation.
  • Access Ramp Construction Cut in your own access ramp to ensure safe entry and exit before beginning excavation.
  • Excavation & Shaping Excavate and shape areas around structures, including manholes, CCs, valves, and hydrants, ensuring sufficient space for the packer to achieve proper compaction.
  • Backfill & Hoe Packing Communicate and coordinate with the backfill excavator to facilitate effective hoe packing around structures.
  • First Lift Placement Place the first lift of fill evenly and at the appropriate depth to support safe and effective compaction.
  • Daily Pipe Coverage Ensure all installed pipes receive at least a first lift of fill by the end of each workday to maintain progress and compliance with project timelines.
  • Compaction Testing Confirm that compaction tests are conducted by geotechnical technicians or quality control personnel, reviewing results to verify compliance with project specifications.
  • Lift Compaction Monitoring Monitor the packer throughout operations to confirm each lift is compacted correctly and meets required specifications.
  • Crew Coordination Maintain optimal proximity to the pipe crew, adjusting as necessary while ensuring clear and continuous communication to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Material Handling Communicate with the mainline crew before pushing material away from the excavator to ensure alignment on the method and execution.
  • Job Site Organization Maintain a clean, level, and organized job site, properly managing and storing excess materials to optimize workflow and safety.
