Position Overview
Giffen Consulting Ltd. (Giffen) is looking to add a Project Manager to an already accomplished project delivery team. We are looking for an individual with a mining and heavy industrial background to join us on a full-time basis. This is an Intermediate level position that offers lots of opportunities for career progression. It is expected this candidate can report three (3) days a week to one of our offices in Vancouver or Toronto.

Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle, including close-out. Identify, document, and communicate client requirements while effectively managing multiple stakeholders.
- Proactively resolves performance, scope, cost, and schedule issues with the Client as they arise.
- Ensure projects are managed in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
- Clearly define project scope and ensure compliance with contract requirements. Manage change control processes and project interfaces while monitoring performance to identify and mitigate issues early.
- Oversee all project scope elements, develop resource and financial plans, and manage design, procurement, and construction activities to align with the project schedule.
- Prepare accurate project estimates and collaborate with the Project Services Team to establish cost reports. Monitor and control all cost aspects, including forecasting, approvals, trend identification, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Define project quality requirements per the Project Quality Plan. Develop a project schedule that allows work to be executed efficiently while ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Provide clear and focused leadership to the project team, creating a vision for success and a strategy to achieve key milestones and objectives.
- Ensure accurate and timely progress reporting to both the client and internal teams. Continuously monitor communication channels between project staff, the client, and third parties, implementing improvements as needed.
- Identify project risks and opportunities, ensuring timely resolution and proactive mitigation strategies.
- Set clear objectives for the design team and ensure adherence to the client's Basis of Design, regulations, and codes.
- Ensure all HSE procedures are followed and that project participants understand and document compliance with safety requirements.
Qualifications+ Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in a multidisciplinary engineering environment (EPC, EPCM, IPD, etc.)
- Experience with complex projects values over $10M
- Familiar with greenfield and brownfield mining / heavy industrial projects
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice
- Experience with equipment selection and sizing for switches, transformers, and power and load distributions
- Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited university or similar
- Registered as a Professional Engineer or Applied Science Technologist in Canada or eligible to register
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation with the Project Management Institute (PMI) is not required but is considered an asset
- The MMCD Certified Contract Administrator (MMCD CCA) designation is not required but is considered an asset
