Tourism Jasper is the Destination Marketing Organization for Jasper and Jasper National Park, charged with developing and executing on creative solutions to help our Shareholders increase revenue through sustainable visitation.
WHY YOURE HERE:
Reporting to the Director of Destination Development, the Destination Development Manager is responsible for leading the business planning, performance tracking, research, and reporting aspects of Tourism Jaspers events and initiatives. The Destination Development Manager will oversee several projects related to the betterment and development of Jasper as a destination and will work with numerous community stakeholders, industry partners, and tourism clients.This role includes reporting and budgetary accountabilities and will work closely with the Director of Destination Development to ensure Tourism Jaspers strategic plans are fully executed.

THIS IS YOUR ROLE:
As the Destination Development Manager you will be responsible for:
EVENTS COORDINATION (40% of your time)
- Support the administration and production of Jasper's Signature Events (Jasper in January, Jasper Pride Festival, Taste of Spring and Dark Sky Festival, etc.).
- Work directly with third-party event production companies (Foundry Events, Jasper Event Management) to ensure Tourism Jasper's objectives are being met in this function.
- Participate in scheduled, regular update meetings with event contractors and manage reporting and budgeting files related to projects.
- Lead and facilitate Tourism Jasper assistance for Supported Events, including Mountain Malanka, Jasper Pond Hockey Tournament, Jasper Half-Marathon, Jasper Grand Fondo, Mural Festival, Jasper Hockey Days, Female Hockey Day, etc.
- Ensure effective internal communication with other Tourism Jasper working groups to drive event delivery critical paths, support event awareness and collateral development and distribution.
- Liaise with stakeholders to understand and adjust to opportunities and challenges related to event engagement. Provide recommendations based on feedback received from stakeholders.
- Analyze, quantify and report on the economic impact of events.
DESTINATION INITIATIVES (40% of your time)
- Work in partnership with the Director of Destination Development to implement the Destination Stewardship Plan.
- Engage and collaborate with the Municipality of Jasper on key community initiatives that support tourism growth.
- Work in partnership with Parks Canada on strategic tourism product development initiatives.
- Collaborate and support provincial industry partners in strategic initiatives that drive tourism and travel.
- Supporting a more sustainable and responsible tourism industry in Jasper. Ensuring Jasper remains a top destination while reducing its environmental impact. Working with GreenStep, stakeholders and shareholders.
- Implement and manage a robust Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion programs for the destination, and support businesses with Rainbow Registered Accreditation Program.
- Lead Jaspers International Dark Sky designation and compliance program inclusive of program development linked to retaining the Dark Sky accreditation.
- Support and manage Indigenous Relations & Reconciliation programs
- Collaborate and engage with stakeholders on industry best practices for engagement, training, and adoption where needed.
- Other duties as required.
VIBRANCY AND ANIMATION (20% of your time)
- Lead destination vibrancy initiatives such as wayfinding signage, light installation projects, placemaking investments, and visitor experience planning.
- Creation, management and deployment of a robust Destination Animation program to bring event brands to life and support event-related programs.
- Develop business engagement opportunities and activations that support owned and supported events
YOURE ARMED WITH:
- Post-secondary education in tourism, communications, business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in project management, hospitality, or tourism with management responsibilities.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent problem-diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets.Along with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with differing levels of responsibility.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, analytics software and other digital tools.
IT WOULD BE EXTRA AWESOME IF YOU:
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
- Ability to translate raw data and research into applicable insights and communicate such to various stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of marketing, communications, analytics, and research methodology.
- Agile and able to handle complexity in a diverse, multidisciplinary organization and industry.
- A collaborative spirit with enthusiasm for working with interdisciplinary teams on a variety of projects in a fast-paced environment.
