THE ROLE:

We are assisting a leading Canadian manufacturer of poleline hardware, specializing in transmission and distribution products for the OEM market, with expertise in forgings, hot/cold stampings, and weldments.

As a Product Design Engineer, you will support the OEM market, servicing industries such as agriculture, mining, and more. Youll collaborate with a talented team to design, analyze, and manage new, existing, and custom products for these sectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Managing technical projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion
• Detail design and development of products and processes within defined objectives
• Perform calculations and layouts required to achieve final design drawings
• Maintain existing product designs, including reviews for improvements or cost reductions
• Creating and maintaining bills of materials, design files, specifications, and drawings
• Review and approve work by others in the technical team under the direction of the Product Engineering Manager
• Providing technical support to customers, suppliers, and other departments
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• P.ENG certifcication
• 10 years expereince
• Must have experience with custom product design, including 3D modeling, material selection, and analysis
• Must have experience with product development, from concept to product validation (including understanding manufacturing processes and cost analysis)
• Strong project management skills, including schedule management, milestone achievement, and product launch activities
• Expertise in mechanical design, materials properties, stress analysis, and product manufacturing processes
• Proficient in reading technical specifications, industry standards, and manufacturing documentation
• Experience creating clear, accurate detail and assembly drawings using AutoCAD & SolidWorks
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including hot work, stamping, machining, heat treatment, and finishing
• Experience with mechanical testing methods and familiarity with ISO9001 Quality Systems
• Practical knowledge of product application, including fit/form/function evaluations and safety assessments
• Ability to work within a technical team and provide guidance to junior staff
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
