HEALTH INFORMATION CLERK
(TEMPORARY PART TIME)
A temporary part time Health Information Clerk position is available at the Groves Memorial Community Hospital within our Health Information Department.
This position is unionized with UNIFOR, Local 1106.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for quantitative analysis of records
- Quality assurance activity related to registration data
- Submission of daily bed census to MOHLTC, and manage all data quality issues
- Managing the collection of endoscopy data for CCO reporting
- Assist with medical release of information as needed
- Prepare charts for audits
- Retention and destruction of records as per the hospital policy
- Responsible for reviewing and correcting the pended transcription reports
- Maintain the patient health record including chart creation, chart location, organizing of patient information, expedite record completion
- Maintenance master patient index
- Scanning & Filing patient information
- Office reception including phone respond to requests or direct as appropriate.
- General office duties include ordering supplies, sorting and distribution of mail/faxes, maintaining photocopier
- Chart pulling assignments including for patient care areas, audit etc.
- Chart archiving activities including purging active chart areas, relocation charts inactive storage and preparing charts for destruction
- Meet or exceed departmental workload and data quality standards
- Participate in quality improvement activities
- Hold patient information confidential
- Performs all other duties, as required, assigned by manager
QUALIFICATIONS
- Secondary School Diploma required
- Graduate Medical Office Program preferred
- Health Records Department/Medical office experience preferred
- Experience Health Information Systems (Meditech)
- Medical Terminology Certificate required
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (especially Word and Excel) and experience with other software applications, particularly hospital information systems
- Experience organizing patient health information with high degree of accuracy
- Compliance with Privacy Legislation and Hospital Confidentiality requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to deal effectively with the public, physicians and other healthcare professionals, in a polite, pleasant and professional manner
- Ability to work at a fast pace, independently and maintain strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Satisfactory performance and attendance required
- Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
- Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired
HOURS:
- Day shifts, Monday to Friday
- As per departmental schedule
SALARY:
- $24.57 - $26.25 per hour
