As CAO, you will serve as the principal advisor to the Town Council and oversee the administration of municipal operations. You will lead the implementation of Council's vision and strategic priorities, ensuring effective governance, fiscal responsibility, and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the Town of Bonnyville team while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Council and Administration, ensuring the effective implementation of bylaws, policies, and programs. Provide strategic recommendations on municipal objectives, policies, and programs to support Council in decision-making.
- Directs the implementation of and monitors the progress of policies and program approved by Council.
- Oversee municipal governance and compliance, ensuring adherence to the Municipal Government Act (MGA).
- Manage financial operations, including budgeting, fiscal planning, and long-term financial sustainability ensuring all expenditures are within approved budget.
- Support economic and community development initiatives that enhance Bonnyville's growth and vibrancy.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including regional partners, businesses, and community groups.
- Foster a positive community image including ensuring efficient and transparent municipal operations, delivering high-quality services to residents, and responding to public inquiries promptly and effectively.
- Leadership Experience: A minimum of 5+ years in Senior Municipal Administration or a related field. A dynamic, high-energy leader with exceptional communication skills who excels in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Experience leading in a union environment is considered an asset.
- Education: A degree in Public Administration, Business, or a related discipline.
- Professional Designation: A Certified Local Government Manager (CLGM) designation is strongly preferred.
- MGA Expertise: Strong knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and best practices in local government.
- Strategic and Fiscal Acumen: Experience in strategic planning, financial management, policy development, and municipal operations.
- Location: The successful candidate must reside in the local region or be willing to relocate and become an active, engaged member of the Town of Bonnyville.
