About the Role:

The Green Party of Canada is seeking an experienced Public Relations Strategist to shape and execute our media strategy for the 2025 federal election. This key role will ensure our message cuts through the noise, reaches the right audiences, and drives impactful media coverage.

This is a temporary, full-time position for the election periodan exciting opportunity for a communications professional passionate about politics, media, and making a difference in Canadian democracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic media plan to maximize visibility for the party and our candidates.
  • Act as a press secretary, managing media relations, coordinating interviews, and preparing spokespeople for media appearances.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and op-eds to secure national and regional coverage.
  • Monitor news cycles to identify media opportunities and proactively position the partys message.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and producers.
  • Provide rapid response media support, including crisis communications and reactive messaging.
  • Develop key messaging and talking points for debates, interviews, and press conferences.
  • Support the social media team in aligning digital content with earned media strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience in political communications, media relations, or public relations, ideally in an election, government, or advocacy setting.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategic media plans that generate meaningful coverage.
  • Strong writing and messaging skills, with experience drafting press releases, statements, and briefing materials.
  • Established media relationships with journalists covering Canadian politics.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced campaign environment.
  • Crisis communication skills and the ability to navigate sensitive political issues effectively.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset.

Compensation & Work Schedule:

  • Competitive compensation, based on experience.
  • Full-time during the election period, with evenings and weekends required to meet media demands.
  • Location: Ottawa preferred, but remote candidates may be considered.
