THE ROLE

STRIVE has exclusively partnered with a leading company in the building materials industry to recruit a dynamic and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

This independently owned and operated organization has experienced significant growth fueled by strategic acquisitions, a strong operational focus, and a commitment to excellence. Their continued expansion includes the construction of a new manufacturing plant, reflecting their forward-thinking approach and investment in long-term success.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving business and lead its financial strategy while collaborating closely with the executive leadership team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the President and leadership team on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships on all levels.
• Assist the President in identifying new funding opportunities, capital structure and financing cost improvements.
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost-benefit analysis to support business growth and ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
• Oversee all internal and external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, and capital sources, providing regular updates and ensuring compliance with lending agreements.
• Develop and implement systems of internal controls to safeguard company assets and support operational efficiency.
• Lead and mentor the finance and administration team, including direct reports such as the Controller and Credit Manager, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
• Provide financial insights for capital expenditures, lease vs. buy decisions, and operational efficiencies to improve profitability and cost management.
• Ensure adequate cash flow to meet operational needs, manage business insurance plans, and assist in contract development and negotiations.
• Partner with senior managers to enhance their financial acumen, enabling more effective decision-making and budget management.
• Coordinate independent audits, ensuring timely resolution of any issues and adherence to all compliance requirements

Qualifications:

• CPA designation required, with at least 5 years of financial leadership experience in the private sector.
• Proven experience as a Controller or CFO, with strong budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and general ledger software.
• Experience in the retail or building materials sector is an asset.
