Salary: $80,000 - $110,000

The Manager, People and Culture (MPC) will report to the CEO and will support all service areas within McTavish. The MPC will administrate and organize human resources and cultural initiatives to help create a supportive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment. The MPC will guide key programs such as recruitment, employee engagement, organizational development, and compliance with HR policies and practices.

Key Job Functions & Responsibilities

Key functions include, but are not limited to support in the following areas:

1. Recruitment & Selection:

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand resourcing needs to ensure implementation of effective and efficient recruitment strategies.
  • Administer the full recruitment cycle, from posting job openings to interview coordination and candidate selection.
  • Develop and maintain strong talent pipelines, ensuring diverse representation in the workforce.
  • Liaise with third party recruitment firms if required, ensuring all public representation aligns with McTavish core values.

2. Employee Engagement, Retention and Performance Management:

  • Foster a positive company culture through employee engagement initiatives, team-building activities, and open communication channels.
  • Develop programs that promote work-life balance, recognition, and overall employee satisfaction.
  • Conduct and administer regular employee surveys to gauge satisfaction and implement feedback-driven improvements and strategies to improve and maintain retention.
  • Lead growth and success processes, ensuring that feedback is constructive, measurable, and aligned with McTavishs strategic goals.
  • Support service area managers in development and administration of mentorship programs to help employees foster personal growth and reach their full professional potential.
  • Develop and implement employee development initiatives, including training and career growth opportunities.
  • Liaise with outside leadership consultants and coaches for strategic programs and initiatives.
  • Advise service area leaders during terminations, lay-offs and administrate corresponding off-boarding activities to ensure compliance with McTavish core values and BC Labor standards.

3. Compensation & Benefits Administration

  • Assist in the maintenance and administration of compensation tracker.
  • Provide guidance and alignment in maintaining internal equity in employee compensation packages with current employment market.
  • Maintain and update HR software and manage communications with Controller on updating employee benefits and compensation.
  • Facilitate enrollment of McTavish group medical benefits as well as manage any changes or updates to employee coverage, including adding or removing dependents.
  • Facilitate Manage removal of employees from McTavish group medical benefits during the offboarding process.
  • Oversee and administer McTavish group medical benefits portal to ensure accuracy of records for insurance provider.

Key outcomes include but are not limited to the following:

  • Managers and staff will feel supported with HR expertise and guidance on policies, processes, and programs.
  • HR programs will be monitored and adjusted as needed to for effectiveness in reaching company strategic priorities.
  • All Managers will stay informed and up to date with labour laws and ensure HR practices comply with legal requirements in both onboarding and offboarding tasks.
  • Employees will feel safe for contact and communication regarding HR-related issues, concerns, and grievances and know those communications will be handled with utmost respect and confidentiality.
  • Recruiting and onboarding processes will be managed on time with clarity, efficiency and professionalism.

Job Requirements

Requirements for the role of Manager, People & Cultureare provided below:

  • Human Resource Management Certificate, Diploma or applicable Degree equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Minimum 3 plus years of work experience in Human Resource Management.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with clean drivers abstract.

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time, Permanent
  • $80,000 - $110,000 depending on experience.
  • Benefits available after 3-months probationary period.
  • RRSP Matched contribution corresponding to tenure, initiated after 2 years employment.
  • Overtime Eligible, however not expected. *If overtime may be required in certain circumstances, this and will ideally be managed as banked time for future use.
