GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT
Accountable to the Supervisor/Manager of Gaming, the Cashier is responsible for scanning items, providing change, balancing the drawer, and processing card transactions. They handle payments in the form of cash, checks, or credit cards from customers in exchange for products or services. Additionally, the Cashier is responsible for valuing and validating winning tickets from VLTS. The Cashier plays a fundamental role in achieving customer satisfaction and revenue growth objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Customer Interaction:Greet customers warmly, answer phones, and direct inquiries to the appropriate party.
- Transaction Processing:Value and validate winning tickets from VLTs, handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions, and make change for gaming customers.
- Customer Service:Provide excellent customer service by assisting with inquiries, resolving escalated issues, and informing customers about available services.
- Machine Maintenance:Perform light cleaning and maintenance of gaming VLT machines, and clear machines as necessary.
- Cash Management:Reconcile daily cash and payouts, balance the cash drawer ensuring receipts match, and assist with cash handling and deposits during opening and closing.
- Payment Processing:Receive and process all payments according to standard procedures, including processing credit and debit cards and assisting customers with processing equipment.
- Inventory Management:Dust and clean shelves, ensure items are available at the front of shelves, check expiry dates, and assist in stocking and organizing products.
- Administrative Tasks:Complete, process, and maintain applicable paperwork, reports, and records. Itemize and total purchases by recording prices, departments, and taxable and non-taxable items. Enter price changes by referring to price sheets and special sale bulletins.
- Promotions and Discounts:Apply discounts by redeeming coupons and ensure fresh coffee is available for customers.
- Team Collaboration:Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed, and train and sometimes supervise new cashiers or other retail workers.
- Security:Patrol assigned areas to guard against theft, vandalism, and fire.
- Other Duties:Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 19 years or older
- Previous experience in a retail or customer service role preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle transactions accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and processing payments.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
