Reporting to the Director of Guest Experience, the Manager of Security Operations is responsible for leading, managing and achieving the strategic security and traffic operation objectives of Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) in accordance with best practices to effectively and efficiently identify, mitigate, prevent, or eliminate unnecessary risks facing REAL and events at REAL District by adopting an intelligence-led approach to organizational security and traffic management. This position will provide overall management for all services and activities involved in 24/7 facility security and surveillance, event security, emergency preparedness, and traffic operations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a member of REAL's Management team, the Manager of Security Operations participates in the development of REAL's strategic planning process, develops, and implements the business plan to achieve the corporation's short and long-term goals by:
· Developing and aligning Business Unit implementation plans to support the Guest Experience Department's strategic and operational goals.
· Providing leadership and implementing plans to reduce current and future threat landscape, including vulnerability mitigation, incident response, and risk assessments.
· Reporting on security and traffic efficacy metrics and tracking work performance to elevate the Business Unit's maturity (security maturity model).
· Implementing security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities related to physical security, staff safety and patron safety.
Leads, oversees and manages Security Operations and parking services to support day-to-day and event-specific requirements by:
· Influencing and demonstrating persuasiveness to influence others to achieve Business Unit outcomes.
· Engaging with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, law enforcement, life safety agencies, emergency services, the parking and transportation industry, and municipal transit parking and traffic enforcement, to obtain information necessary to achieve Business Unit outcomes.
· Assisting Event Managers in developing event-specific security & parking staffing plans.
Ensures effective business unit financial planning by:
· Contributing to the development of the business unit's annual budget (capital and financial), responsible for monitoring monthly financial statements and forecasting/implementing appropriate expenditure controls to manage costs.
· Periodically reviewing invoicing to ensure all inputs are reported and invoice is submitted in a timely manner to the client. Ensuring outstanding receivables are followed up on once advised by Finance of any delinquency.
· Recommending changes in direction or priorities during the business year; provide direction for necessary modifications to the business plan or operating budgets as required during the fiscal year.
Leads and develops strong teams to carry out business unit strategies and operational plans by:
· Hiring, training, promoting, holiday & vacation scheduling, dismissals, discipline and compensation reviews for all direct reports; provide written & verbal performance evaluation; advice, guidance, direction and authorization for direct reports to carry out plans & procedures consistent with established policies.
· Selecting, developing, coaching and mentoring direct reports and a diverse workforce through leadership, performance management, and operational plan execution aligning with REAL's mission, vision, and values.
Requirements
WHAT IT TAKES
Education and Experience
· 3 + years of experience planning, developing, implementing, and managing a public assembly facility
· Experience in Security surveillance, incident management and access control systems
· A Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience in law enforcement, criminal justice, or security management, complemented by a completed Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification in preferred.
· Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Knowledge of operational characteristics, services and activities of public assembly facilities.
· Crowd management and control techniques; Principles of supervision and training.
· Knowledge of relevant federal, provincial, and local regulations.
· Understanding of terminology used in entertainment and convention center settings
· Computer proficiency required including advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, databases and the internet.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
· Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
· Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others
· Knowledge of security surveillance, incident management, and access control systems
· Excellent leadership skills with the proven ability to lead and motivate team members, including the ability to supervise and manage multidisciplinary staff
· Excellent decision-making skills, and demonstrated proficiency for managing multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes.
