About the Role
The Mechanical Design Technologist will be working in a fast paced, multi project environment and is responsible for aiding in thedesign of mechanical infrastructure and machines and creating and organizing engineering design documentation and detailedmanufacturing drawings. This role will work closely with Steelhaus Technologies Production Divisions and Personnel.

Position Details

• Position Status: Full-Time, Permanent
• Location: Calgary, AB
• Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Duties and Responsibilities

• Handle and/or Support with the designing and manufacturing of purpose-built tools and machines for use in our productiondivisions.
• Sourcing industrial components and supplies.
• Liaising with suppliers/vendors.
• Support with creating manufacturing processes and documentation.
• Support writing detailed assembly and testing procedures.
• Support with writing technical manuals pertaining to products.
• Aid in the QA/QC inspection and testing process to ensure tools and equipment are within company quality standards.
• Developing strategies to ensure documentation are completed and organized.
• Creating accurate and clear manufacturing drawings in compliance with drafting standards.
• Perform tolerance analysis on assemblies and parts.
• Support with the organization of 3rd party drawings and specifications.
• Some project may require visits to other Steelhaus facilities and Vendors.

Required Abilities, Knowledge, Experience

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or other related education is preferred.
• Possesses good technical writing skills.
• Possesses good organizational skills.
• Possesses a minimum of 2 years drafting experience, preferred.
• Possesses a good understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Possesses a good working knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T, and QC standards.
• Knowledgeable in the design and detailing practices and materials for down-hole tools.
• Must be proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office.
• Highly self-motivated.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
• A team-oriented work approach with the ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including turning and milling.
• Knowledge about precision measuring equipment, tolerancing and part interconnectivity.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
